Painting Wonder
How Pauline Baynes Illustrated the Worlds of C. S. Lewis & J.R.R. Tolkien
published by Waxwing Books
"An accessible and inspiring mini-biography, delightfully illustrated."
Read about Pauline Baynes and how her childhood and work during World War II brought her to the right place and time to do something magical: illustrate all seven books of the Chronicles of Narnia. This picture book biography, told in lyrical prose with vivid and detailed illustrations, will be a favorite read-aloud for kids and grown-ups alike.
Note: The first print run of this book contains a typo in the backmatter! When referring to Pauline and her marriage, the text states that "ten years later" Fritz passed away. That is incorrect – the correct date (which was in fact twenty-seven years later, happily for them) is on the timeline shown on the endpapers. Pauline and Fritz were married in 1961, and he passed away in 1988.
If you send me a note through this website, I will happily send you a hand-written sticker to correct the typo!
